"And from the chaos of her soul, there flowed beauty" - Erskine
Gemma Vendetta began officially in 2009, as Gemma began her career as a vintage pinup!
Shortly after doing her own hair and makeup for photoshoots, photographers, and other models wanted Gemma's vintage styling skills.
Fast forward, and Gemma gained her qualifications in Hairdressing and Makeup Artistry from Clip Joint Education in Adelaide, SA, and soon after finishing her studies she completed a business course and began her self-funded start-up of natural mineral cosmetics, all whilst raising her Son as a fulltime, single Mum.
Fast-forward to 2022, and Gemma Vendetta Cosmetics is a multi-award winning cosmetics brand, with a growing loyal returning customer base - and welcomes new customers daily, GVC now has stockists across Australia and New Zealand, with numbers increasing as time progresses.
Gemma Vendetta invites YOU to become a stockist, too! Feel free to make contact here.
From humble beginnings
Gemma Vendetta began after a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis in 2007. MS as it's affectionately known is a degenerative autoimmune disease (a genetically pre-disposed auto-immune disease triggered by allergens). I was a vintage style pin-up model and a Qualified Hairdresser and Makeup Artist with an avid love of the 1940s.
I wanted to create safe, natural alternatives to the un-safe, immune-distrupting ingredients added to many mainstream cosmetic products since the early 1900s. My products 100% Vegan and Cruelty Free, 100% Australian Made and Owned, with eco-minded packaging, and carefully chosen ingredients with our organic-self in mind.
I don't have a commercial office or warehouse, I don't have a large team, either. I work alone from home in the Barossa Valley, SA.
My namesake brand was officially launched in 2016.
Whilst working as a Professional Hairdresser and Makeup Artist, I became frustrated by the 'usual' and widely accepted manufacturing ethos of the 'big brands', and wondered:
- Why was it the norm to use so many harmful chemicals in our beauty products, at the cost of our health and wellness?
- Why did I have to compromise my health and that of my clients with inferior and cheap nasty ingredients?
- Why were so many products not only made overseas but companies dominating the Australian market OWNED overseas?
- Why are beauty products and cosmetics still tested on animals??
